Stockley Cup - Three in a row!
In a history making run, Newlands College retained the Stockley Cup, Wellington Region's most prestigious student public speaking award, for the third year in a row. Below is Janhavi Gosavi's emotionally charged, cup winning speech, which was delivered first to its intended audience - her friends at the final Year 13 assembly.
Celebration of Sports
Term 4 provides both students and staff with a number of opportunities to reflect on and celebrate the successes of a year whose curtain is beginning to draw closed. The first of these events was the Celebration of Sports. Photos of the trophy winners can be found here.

Celebration of the Arts
The Celebration of the Arts both acknowledges and showcases the best of student work across a range of arts including visual art, drama, music and film. A sophisticated and entertaining affair, the night affords the school community with an opportunity to relive some of the cultural highlights of the year in a live setting. Farewell class of 2018
The academic year concludes for seniors with the final classes of the year and the commencement of NCEA examinations. At this point formal assemblies are held to mark the closure of the school year proper for these students. Of particular magnitude is the final assembly for the Year 13s, which provides a final chance to reflect on the past 5 years and say farewells. Below is the video that wrapped up this event after the speeches and a passion-fuelled haka delivered by the junior students to their departing peers.

Academic Prizegiving
The school year culminates, for both the the senior and junior school, in the Academic Prizegiving evenings where we publicly acknowledge those who have achieved at the highest levels across the academic spectrum including scholarship recipients and those who have rendered outstanding service to the school. Congratulations to all recipients, but in particular to Shine Wu Dux for the second year in a row, Emily Hollis and Chelsea Kah - Proxime Accessit, Amber Zhu - Top in Year 12 and Brandon Ru - Top in Year 11.

3 Day Discovery
Exploding into its 7th year, the 3 Day Discovery program afforded junior students with the unique opportunity to choose from a range of activities outside of the regular curriculum. Ranging from a 3 day tramp, to geocaching, horror film making, horse riding and a host of other options, students once again had a ball, relishing their respective activities and the chance to learn whilst having fun.
