HP 48HOURS
The country's greatest annual creative challenge, the 48HOURS filmmaking competition, attracted 8 teams from Newlands College this year. Tasked with writing, shooting, editing and delivering a short film in 48HOURS, students and a few hardy staff spurned the comfort of their beds to see their team's creations safely over the finish line. The film below, Spazz Allens, was nominated for three awards in the Wellington leg of the competition. A playlist of all 8 films can be found here.
Catch Me If You Can
This year's production of Catch Me if You Can was based on the extraordinary true(ish) story of Frank Abagnale, one of America's most successful fraudsters. Featuring a gripping plot, compelling characters thrillingly brought to life by the talented cast and many show-stopping song and dance numbers, this year's production was another unmitigated success. Senior Ball
The annual Senior Ball, the premier social event on the school calendar, once again proved to be a fun and sophisticated night out at the dramatic Te Papa venue. Go here to relive all the amazing outfits, the dancing, fun and, of course, the photobooth.

Wā Ako
The "active learning" aspect of our Wā Āko program culminated in students working on self directed learning projects during two days off the regular school timetable. Pictured below is a small snapshot of a bewilderingly diverse array of initiatives the students were engaged in.

USA Arts Trip
28 lucky students spent their Term 2 holidays in the land of the free as part of the inaugural USA Arts Trip, which saw them take in the artistic highlights of Washington D.C., New York and L.A. Loads of photos and clips can be found here.
